The TDS meter is a digital device that measures the concentration of substances dissolved in water and evaluates the quality of water. When the metal electrodes of the device are immersed in water, the amount of dissolved substances is calculated from the conductivity of the water. Ions in water carry an electrical charge, which increases the conductivity of the water. Based on this conductivity, the TDS meter determines the TDS value. This device has a digital display and a battery-operated mechanism. When the electrode rods are immersed in water, they interact with the dissolved substances in the water and establish an electrical connection. With this connection, the conductivity of the water is measured and the amount of dissolved substances is calculated.
What should be the ideal TDS value for water treatment?
The TDS value of water obtained with water treatment devices should ideally be between 50-150 ppm. Water below 50 ppm is weak in terms of minerals and can lead to a deficiency of minerals needed by the body in the long term. Water with a TDS value above 150 ppm can cause health problems such as kidney problems and calcification in bones.
