- Dissolved Solids (English Dissolved Solids): Total Dissolved Solids, also used as TDS, includes minerals such as Magnesium, Calcium, Sodium, Potassium, Potassium, BiCarbonate and heavy metals dissolved in water. There is a thin line in the TDS value of water. The excess of dissolved solids in water adversely affects both the drinking quality of water and its use in industry. However, useful minerals should be present in drinking water for human health. Waters with a TDS value of 50-150 mg / litre have the most ideal value for drinking water.
- Dissolved Oxygen (English: Dissolved Oxygen) (DO) – Oxygen gas dissolved in water has a very important role. Dissolved oxygen in water, also known as subtrate quality, eliminates the chance of many pathogens to survive in water.
Water Treatment Terms Starting with D
- Defluoridation (Defluoridation in English): It is the purification and removal of fluorine level in water at a level to prevent staining of tooth enamel.
- Dehydration (English: Dehydration): It has two meanings. Removal of water from a substance containing water or dehydration of the human body at a critical level is defined as dehydration.
- Deionisation (English: Deionization): It is the process of removing all charged atoms and molecular structures in water. In the separation of salt from water, Na and Cl ions are separated from the structure. It is a technology widely used in Water Treatment Devices. It is especially needed in industrial water treatment.
- Deionised Water (English: Deionised Water): It is used to define water whose ions are separated by ion exchange system thanks to advanced technology. It is the sterile form of water. It is frequently used especially in industrial water treatment.
- Dechlorination (English: Dechlorinate): It is the process of removing chlorine, which affects the flavour quality of water with water treatment devices.
- Demineralisation (English: Demineralization): It is the process of separating the total dissolved solids in the water, i.e. dissolved minerals or mineral salts. In this way, the TDS value is brought to the most ideal level according to the area where the water will be used.
- Desalination (English: Desalination): It is the process of purifying the water by separating the salts dissolved in the water from the water, mostly in industrial water treatment.
- Disinfection (English: Disinfection): It is the process of sterilising the water in the safest way, without any risk. UV filters can also be used in water purifiers as well as filters developed with special technology.
- Distilled Water (English: Distilled Water): Demineralised pure water.
- Natural Water (English: Natural Water): Groundwater that comes to the surface from one or more sources, whose mineral content does not change, is protected against all kinds of contamination risks and does not undergo any chemical treatment
Water Treatment Terms Starting with F
- °F Fahrenheit (English: Fahrenheit Temperature Scale): According to this scale, the freezing point of water is determined as 32 °F and the boiling point as 212 °F and between these two points is divided into 180 equal parts.
- Phenols (English: Phenols): Compounds that cause taste and odour problems in drinking water even if they are present in trace amounts. There are many different phenols of petrochemical and industrial origin.
- Filtration (English: Filtration): In summary, it is the process of extracting unwanted components and molecules. In water treatment systems, filters such as carbon, membrane, ceramic, hyper filtration, UV are used for this purpose.
Water Treatment Terms Starting with H
- Light Water (English: Light Water): It is drinking water with an ideal mineral content with a TDS value of 50-150 mg/litre.
- Raw Water (English: Raw Water): Water that has not undergone any processing after leaving its source.

- Membrane Filtration (English: Membrane Filtration): It is a feature that has been developed especially in recent years in water treatment filters. In addition to purifying the salt from the mains water, it is used for the cleaning of disease-causing micro-organisms, micro-plastics, colour and odour. It is semi-permeable. There are four different membrane filtration.
